There is no way we would pass on an opportunity to honour the capital city of the country: Yamoussoukro (or Yakro, for short).
Featuring a traditional Kente pattern in the background (for the Baoulé roots), this jersey is an ode to the birthplace of first president of the country: Félix Houphouët-Boigny. As a nod to him, whose nickname included The Ram, we featured "BWAGNI" a different spelling of Boigny (a Baoulé word which means Ram). That's why there is a ram head behind it, and an Adinkra (which is a symbol from Ghana that represents concepts or aphorisms) on the sleeves.
The Adinkra "Dwennimmen", literally meaning "ram's horns," means that even the strong have to also be humble.
To finish it off, the label "FROM YAKRO" is present at the bottom-right. It's only right to have that label because everything about this jersey dials back to Yamoussoukro! Even the colors: blue for the Lakes District (where Yakro is located), and grey for the large tarred roads. Even the Basilica, which inspired the bottom pattern.
