Celebrating the very first AFCON trophy won by Côte d’Ivoire 30 years ago, we released this jersey honoring the mountainous western region of the country.
Named "18 MONTAGNES" (18 Mountains) after the administrative name of the country's region where there are a lot of hills and mountains, this jersey is a tongue-in-cheek nod to the winning team, because they sat at the top of the African football, hence top of the mountains.
The back pattern has 18 mountains sitting on top of dual green silhouettes to represent the forest.
The sleeves feature lianas and connect to the Jungle theme, in addition to the sleeve cuffs and the collar which feature a simple elephant skin pattern, as a nod to the national emblem of the country: the elephant, also known as The King of the Jungle (hence presence of the lianas).
Finally, on the chest and under the star earned from winning in 1992, is "OUEST SIDE". It is a play on "WEST" which translates to "OUEST" in French. Since excellence is in the details, the last letter of OUEST looks likes a "T", and the first letter of "SIDE" looks like an "S" but they are respectively "1" and "8", to take it back to "18 MOUNTAINS", the official name of the jersey.
